In the Still of the Night

The painting “In the Still of the Night” was conceived by the artist to depict Stonewall Jackson and his wife Anna. With the sun setting to the West, Stonewall and his wife Anna celebrate an evening ride together. It would be the last time she would see him before he was critically wounded in May of 1863.
