CALL FOR REENACTORS!!

J.E.B. STUART'S LEGENDARY RAID
A Historic Reenactment

October 11, 12th & 13th, 2002
Mercersburg, PA

On October 11, 12, and 13th of 2002, Mercersburg will commemorate the 140th Raid on the Town by the legendary General J.E.B. Stuart and his elite Cavalry and Horse Artillery. Known historically as the "2nd Ride-Around", this Raid "shook the Union", and was instrumental in President Lincoln's decision to relieve his Commander, General George McClellan. Thus, some historians say, changing the course of the War!

Hosted by the Mercersburg Stuart Raid Committee and Civil War Heritage, Inc., This event will be re-created on the historic town square Saturday morning (Civilians wanted for this scenario) followed by a battle reenactment including Infantry, Cavalry & Artillery in the afternoon. The commanders for the event will be Greg Bair (PACS) Confederate and Ron Palese (Vincent's Brigade) Federal. A roasted chicken dinner will be provided to all registered reenactors Saturday evening. A memorial service will be held for all services at the historic site of a number of 54th Massachusetts Infantry. Following the ceremony there will be another reenactment early Sunday afternoon. Usual amenities will be provided to all reenactors during the event. We look forward to your participation and help in recreating this historic event.

Groups supporting this event include: Chamber of Commerce, Historical Society, Borough, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Moose Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion.
